Take Me Out to the Playoffs

At 3:07 today the post season for the Nationals begins. Yeah!!!!!

They have been very hot the second half of the season. This from the Post:
Though the Nationals ended their 2012 campaign 37-23 over the final two months, this year’s group has approached the end of the season more aggressively.

Hot hitting and pitching has been contagious. Since left fielder Bryce Harper’s bat came around, others have followed suit. Since Aug. 1, Harper has batted .283 with 10 home runs, center fielder Denard Span has hit .325 with 10 doubles, and Jayson Werth has hit .322 with four home runs and 23 RBIs. As a team, only the Dodgers have scored more runs than the Nationals in the NL since the All-Star break.

“We don’t know what our full potential is,” said shortstop Ian Desmond, who has hit .283 with six homers since Aug. 9. “We’ve played better as the season has gone on. We’ve got guys back from injuries now. It’s an exciting time and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for us.”

Though the Nationals’ bats didn’t heat up until the second half, the pitching staff has been consistently good all year — leading the majors with a 3.03 ERA.

Strasburg will take the mound for game one. Part of a starting pitching rotation that has been fantastic:

But even the starting rotation has elevated its play the past couple weeks. In their last two starts of the regular season, Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, Doug Fister, Gio Gonzalez and Tanner Roark went a combined 10-0 with a 0.89 ERA in 71 innings pitched.

Here's hoping that that trend continues.

So Nats time to go out and get that curly W!

Go Nats
