Mamma Mia, 4000th Performance

Hard to believe!?

This from Playbill:

The hit Benny Andersson-Björn Ulvaeus musical Mamma Mia! celebrates its 4,000th performance May 31 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The musical is now the 11th longest-running show in Broadway history, having surpassed the record-breaking original runs of Fiddler on the Roof; Hello, Dolly!; Annie; My Fair Lady; 42nd Street; and Cabaret.

Here's a little more from Broadway World:
Seen by over 45 million people around the world, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA! remains one of Broadway's top selling musicals. The current North American Tour has played over 3,600 performances in over 135 cities with 145 repeat visits. The originAl West End production of MAMMA MIA! is now in its twelfth year and has celebrated over 5,000 performances in London and the international tour has visited more than 50 foreign cities and been seen by 3.7 million people. The blockbuster feature film adaptation of MAMMA MIA!, produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, is the most successful movie musical of all time grossing $600 million worldwide.

It got me to thinking that I saw it for the first time nine years ago. Time flies. And seeing it the number of times that I have has certainly been fun.
